I hear creators emphasizing the importance of personal branding every day on the Internet without context, and any information without context is junk and false information!

Yes, personal branding makes freelancing and business easy.

It makes getting clients relatively easier.

BUT

It is not necessary!

Every day thousands of college kids start creating content on the Internet in the hope of getting clients and making money as a freelancer.

See, the problem is not content creation. The problem is focusing on content creation when your bank account is dry!

You need to build a business and building a personal brand is not the pre-requisite of business!

What if you don’t want to create content in the first place?

Are you not eligible to build a business?

That’s just stupid from my point of view!

Business requires three things:

  1. A good product/service

  2. Visibility (Traffic in technical terms)

  3. Sales (That’s how you make money)

As you read this, chances are you already have a good skill you can offer to the world as a service but you don’t have a traffic source and you don’t know how to sell.

Now, you are trying to fill this gap with content creation

BUT..

It is hard to get 100,000 followers than making $100,000 for most people (Not if you know how to dance)

So the way you fill the gap of traffic is by making yourself visible.

You do it by:

  • Sending cold DM’s

  • Sending cold emails

  • Telling your relatives about your service/product

  • Spreading the word
