Delusional optimism is the only way But...

Accountability and delusion are two of the monumental traits that seem like are necessary for an Entrepreneur’s survival!

The misery and beauty of being an Entrepreneur is that you always want something more

  • More revenue in the company

  • Bigger clients

  • Bigger valuation

  • Better team

  • Better systems

You are always aiming for more and the world outside looks at you and goes - what’s wrong with this person?

I found this to be true at least for myself - I have been an Entrepreneur for the last 2 years so I am fairly new to the game and I can only share my thought process on what the journey has been like till now.

When society can’t digest a thought that is bigger than reality - they tag it as delusion.

And it is impossible to climb mountains without delusion.

Being an Entrepreneur means having a vision about an idea that you have and then working towards it for 12-15 hours a day at least for the first 5 years while being optimistic about it.

You almost have to keep your ears closed - you can’t even listen to your family because they don’t know what you are going through unless your family has Entrepreneurs who built something on their own.

What you are doing won’t make sense to the world and you can't convince them with words - The only thing you can convince them with will be money or status:

  • Hey see I am on the news

  • Hey see 10L people follow me on Instagram

  • Hey see my revenue numbers

But the outcomes in reality are never instant.

For the time being, when you are in the process and you still have to convince people around you about the work you do, the only option you are left with is delusional optimism.

You have to believe everything will work out regardless of what the world tells you.

When you have a vision, there is no space for the world’s logic or emotions.

All that matters is your optimism, belief, and determination to make your vision a reality.

BUT

Delusion without accountability is the death of an entrepreneur’s mind.

  • You are accountable to make it work

  • You are accountable for solving the problems when they knock

  • You are accountable for all the problems in your business

  • You are accountable for your family’s health

  • You are accountable for maintaining good relationships

  • You are accountable for making things right

If you are not ready to take this level of accountability - your delusion will slap you in the face and ruin your life

“The world doesn’t care what you are going through”

You can’t blame your busy schedule, or your hardships for broken relationships, health, and mental health because if you do so - you will start despising your vision and everything will fall flat.

Life has too many moving parts and if blaming one part for another not working well is your strategy then I can only wish you luck.

It is not a strategy, it’s a loser’s coping mechanism.

Forget the external world!

Without accountability, you will never be able to come out of the valley of despair as an entrepreneur - You will always suffer in your mind.
